Eye of the Tiger

The first time I heard about the Eye of the Tiger practice, I was intrigued. Developed as the ultimate yoga practice by Anusara yoga founder John Friend in the mid-90’s, this 4-6 hour practice is designed to cultivate fire and will. I loved the idea of this type of challenge. Since I heard about it many years ago, I’ve been excited to round up a group of eager teachers and students to join me.  The power of the kula (community) brings an energy and excitement that enables us to do more than we could do on our own. Like Tough Mudder for yogis or a yoga marathon, this threshold training will test your limits and expand your boundaries. Some might scoff at these types of events and think, “why would anyone want to do that?” BECAUSE IT’S HARD CORE AND BAD ASS! Seriously, a challenge gives you an opportunity to not only grow your physical capacities, but ultimately your mental strength and determination. Placing yourself in difficult situations allows you to discover who you are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Aren’t you curious to see how you fare??? Yo-Yo Ma said “Every day I make a step towards what I don’t know”. That’s the only way we’ll ever grow. We have to be willing to step out of our comfort zone and like Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Do one thing every day that scares you.” If we take inspiration from these two who did something big with their lives, we too have to take every opportunity we can to do something BIG. And when we can do it together, it’s that much better : ) Eye of the Tiger Poster Nov 2013
